A "thank you" to Community Living Peterborough


On the March 3rd weekend, five students, who are part of the Amigos program (an inclusion program focusing on youth with intellectual disabilities, but open to all youth who experience barriers to inclusion), from Peterborough and the surrounding area, attended the provincial wide Re:Action 4 Inclusion conference, thanks to Community Living Peterborough.

Congratulations to the winners of Community Living Peterborough's Spinclusion "Together We're Better " Poster Contest! The top three winners: Kate Anderson, Jack Brady and Haden Perrin are pictured with their grade 3/4 teacher Ms. Emily Sturgeon, Millbrook South Cavan Public School and Community Living Peterborough's Outcomes Facilitators Shelley Davis and Shawna Belcourt. We thank the entire Millbrook South Cavan 3/4 class that took on the challenge of creating amazing posters depiting inclusion and equality for all!

Local atheletes among Team Ontario - Special Olympics

Our good friends Nicholas Dagenais and Krista Embury from Peterborough are among the Team Ontario contingent that will be travelling to Alberta for the 2012 National Winter Special Olympic Games in St. Abert from Feb 28-Mar 3. We wish them luck!



Rights commitee celebrating 10 years

Community Living Peterborough (CLP) introduced a Rights Committee to the agency 10 years ago to assure an unbiased process was in place to protect the rights of people living with intellectual disabilities under the auspices of CLP. This Committee was comprised of volunteers from a broad sector of the community with a common goal - Rights Protection!

The Rights Committee acts as an advisor to the CEO in matters concerning rights promotion and protection.

People First advocacy group receives Police Board grant for spring conference












January 20, 2012 Peterborough ON - People First Peterborough Chapter, a self advocacy group speaking up for the value, dignity, and human rights of people living with an intellectual disability, received a grant for $4,200.00 from the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Services Board of Director's Auction Fund. Peter Bascan, president of the local People First Chapter was presented with the big cheque on Friday, January 20th by Chief Murray Rodd and Board President Nancy Martin.
